Denver Broom and Brush Works Advertising Souvenir M. Craffey Colorado Ca 1890

This is a large advertising item that says M. Craffey 1554 Blake Street Denver Colo” on the front. There is an engraving on the back that is hard to read but it appears to say “The Kitchen Store Patented. I’m not exactly sure what it was used for but it looks like a shoehorn or a stirrer.

Circa 1890

M. Craffey was known for creating what he called a smelter broom (see original add from 1896 Mining and Scientific Press ad picture). My guess is the smelter broom was a broom that did not light on fire in a smelting environment.

The Denver Broom and Brush Works was located on 1532 and 1534 Blake in the 1880’s

The metal might be plated

Dimensions: Length = 12”, Width = 1 ¼”

Condition (6/10) Ok Overall: Shows signs of wear with scratches, some bending at the tip, plating spots missing and some dirt/gunk on the back. The Lettering on both sides is hard to read and pictures where hard to obtain. The front is relatively easy to make out but the back takes some work to make out.
