Old Dominion Smelter Globe Arizona Mining Sterling Silver Souvenir ca. 1910

An early sterling silver spoon made by Joseph Mayer & Bros. Seattle Washington showing the Old Dominion Smelter located in Globe Arizona. The bowl says “O.D. Smelter” on one side and “Globe, Ariz” on the other. On the stem there is a lizard and above it on the handle is an engraving of the earth with the word “globe” in North America. On the back is a native American with a few tribe symbols.

The makers mark is above the bowl on the start of the stem.

Dimensions: length = 5 ¾”, Bowl = 1 ¼” by 1 ¾”

Ca. 1910

Condition (8/10) Good Overall. The spoon is in great shape overall but there is one section that is peculiar. If you look at the back right above the area where the spoon says “sterling” looks like the spoon was repaired. I have no idea if this was done by the maker or after the fact. You can see the repair on the front, but it is mostly noticeable on the back. The integrity of the spoon seems to be great regardless of the repair. Some light signs of wear. No major chips or nicks.
